Wednesday was Take Me Outside Day , the whole school participated in a school wide event where they went to various stations (art, building, binoculars, photos, and pond dipping) with their buddies. We partnered with our buddies from Mrs. McEachern & Mrs. Sera-Crawford grade 1/2 community and explored the land that surrounds us. What spectacular weather and community building it was. This week in school we have accomplished a lot. Students have finished their Worst Picture Day stories and have been moving back to picture prompts and 6 word stories.  In Science , we have continued with studying Trees & Forests and have been looking at Tree Cookies and how to identify the age and growing conditions of a tree.  We have been studying the terms equality, equity and justice in Social Studies and have begun to look at issues such as cell phone usage in schools and formed our opinions after reading others opinions and then debating which position they would take.  In math, the grade

This week we walked with Ms. Rowley's grade 3/4 class to the Children's Hospital where there is a new Indigenous space. We explored this space through the lens of Nature as Design. Students took notes, filled with sketchs, wonders and noticings. We also spend some time thinking about how we felt when we went into the tipi for a reflection. Some of the one words that students used to describe how they felt were: collective, peaceful, calm, round, together.  In math grade 5's learned a new multiplication strategy called the lattice strategy, we played with numbers in other ways through number talks. Grade 6's are working on an project that deals with multplies and were introduced Prime factorization. Practicing and becoming fluent with our multicplication tables is something students can be working on at home.  Looking at leaves, we continued to gain knowledge about trees by trying to classify them based on thier characteristics (shape, margin, type & arrangement)
