Although a short week students have accomplished a lot.  In math grade 5’s have begun to look at multiplication through patterns, visualizing and exploring. Grade 6’s are examining factors and multiples.  We have spent some time outside learning new journaling techniques as well as measuring trees circumference, calculating its diameter and estimating the height of trees for Science .  Students are almost finished with their Book Timelines; this will be due by the end of next week. We are continuing to build students stamina in reading and finding books that they read and finish. In connection with Orange Shirt Day we have been learning about the importance of reconciliation, watching videos, reading books and will be looking at child friendly version of the calls to action in the future. This will be something that we will be connecting to throughout the year.   Enjoy the long weekend and get ready to run on Monday for our Terry Fox Run, follow this link to donate on behalf of our

We survived our first full week! It was a great week with wonderful weather which made going outside and enjoying the fresh air a real treat.  There was a continuation of getting to know each other and our expectations of how to be a student in our grade 5/6 community. Each student was tasked with sending an email about themselves as a learner to myself to practice sending a proper and professional email. Students are in charge of keeping track of their own email and password this year so they have access to Google Classroom and their emails both at school and at home.  Students have also been getting a refresher in techonology. Welcome to Ms. Roa's grade 5/6 weekly blog. Every Friday a new blog will be posted with some snippets of what we have accomplished in the week. A link to this blog will be posted in your child's Google Classroom (starting next week) and on our school website. You can alternatively bookmark or save the link on your device. I look forward to sharing our learning with you throughout the year.  What a great 6 first days of school! We even had an assembly lead by Mr. Lang and Mrs. Bonnano, it felt great to gather as a whole school community and see everyone in one place.  We took the opportunity to be outside journaling, looking at natural objects. Students were introduced to the journaling strategy "Compass Points" where they reflected on four different feelings. In our art journals, we also practiced upside down drawing which was a good challenge, even for the teacher! We have been building up our stamina in both reading and writing this year. We began the novel "

Welcome to our 2022-2023 agenda/blog. I am so excited share what we are doing in our classroom community through this platform. Each week, myself or a student will update the learning of that week. Sometimes we may include photos, videos and/or student work. Similarly, we'll include important dates, homework and to do items. Looking forward to a great year with you and your child.
