Wednesday was Take Me Outside Day, the whole school participated in a school wide event where they went to various stations (art, building, binoculars, photos, and pond dipping) with their buddies. We partnered with our buddies from Mrs. McEachern & Mrs. Sera-Crawford grade 1/2 community and explored the land that surrounds us. What spectacular weather and community building it was.

This week in school we have accomplished a lot. Students have finished their Worst Picture Day stories and have been moving back to picture prompts and 6 word stories.

In Science, we have continued with studying Trees & Forests and have been looking at Tree Cookies and how to identify the age and growing conditions of a tree.

We have been studying the terms equality, equity and justice in Social Studies and have begun to look at issues such as cell phone usage in schools and formed our opinions after reading others opinions and then debating which position they would take.

In math, the grade 5's have been working of various strategies to solve multiplication questions. We will be continuing with multiplication next week. Have your child practice their multiplication at home so they can become more fluent (especially the 7's & 9's). In grade 6, students have been continuing their work on lowest common multiple, greatest common factor and prime factors.

We started a review of the 7 Elements of Art (Line, value, colour, space, shape, texture and form).
