Our week was a bit hampered due to the smoke (no walk and being stuck inside), however students were very adaptable. 

A reminder that cell phones should not be out/visible during school hours. 

The first PAT on writing was a success grade 6 students worked hard. The next ones are not until the end of June. We are so proud of their hard work.

We hope that the smoke clears up and we are able to do a walk next week on Wednesday morning. 

ELA: 

  • students reviewed newspaper writing before the PAT 
  • started poetry and will continue with poetry for the rest of May
  • getting close to finishing Mars Patel podcast: Ask your child what they liked about it? What character they connected with most? 

MATH:

  • we continued with probability, experimenting with dice and spinners 
  • Students learned about theoretical and experimental probability 
  • next week we will continue with probabilty and some more experiments

SCIENCE:

  • looked at tires How do scientists analyze tire tracks? Tire track impressions are retained on surfaces in two- and three-dimensional forms. Almost all impressions, including partial impressions, have value for forensic comparisons.
  • next week we will be exploring handwriting 

SOCIAL:

  • Students did really well on their local government quiz
  • we started looking at provinical government and their roles as well as the different political parties in Alberat. Student will participate in student vote on Friday in anticipation of the vote on the 29th.
