Students finished their book clubs on Wednesday and will be working on a project to show their understanding of their novel in both visual and written format. It was great to see our students start and finish a whole novel, have interesting conversations with their peers and challenge themselves to read something different.

In science we have moved onto a new unit of Evidence & Investigation. In this unit students will investigate and learn about a variety of evidence (fingerprint analysis, foot/tire/other prints, soil samples, handwriting analysis, paper chromatography, fabric/hair analysis and DNA) and link it to a possible source, observe human and animal footprints to infer the direction and speed of travel, and identify evidence of human and animal activity outdoors, and make inferences based on the unique characteristics of the evidence observed.

We started the podcast The Disappearance of Mars Patel which ties in with our science unit and incorporates listening and comprehension skills. Ask you child what they think is going to happen next?

Grade 5's worked on patterns this week in math, we will be moving onto simple algebra next week. In grade 6 they are learning about angles.

After learning about the Canadian Charter students are learning about local government and will be learning about provincial government just in time for Student Vote which takes place before the actual election at the end of May.

This week we finished off our residency of inline skating. Students had a lot of fun and saw a big progression in those who were just learning. Next week we are starting another residency with Trickster Theatre, which will end in two performances on Thursday May 4th.

A reminder that on Tuesday we will be going on a field trip to Arts Commons to watch a performance of Step Afrika! and continue the day downtown with some journalling and exploration.

Have a great weekend & Eid Mubarak to those celebrating!
