It was nice to have everyone back refreshed from spring break, although a short week it was jam packed. 

ELA:

  • we planned and started writing our informational essays this week. Published copies will be due next week
  • Book Clubs are almost done, students will be working on a choice project about their books to show their understanding
Math:
  • converting decimals to fractions and the reverse has been our focus in math for grade 5
  • Grade 6 students have been working on algerbra and will be moving to geometry afterwards
Science: 
  • We are finishing up our Chemistry unit with having students make 4 short Bill Nye inspired videos to demonstrate their learning of the unit 
Social:
  • a continuation of looking at the Canadian Charter as well as beginning to look at local government. This tied into our presentation Wednesday afternoon. 
We went on a community walk Wednesday morning and had Councillor Gian Carlo Carra from Ward  9 come in and talk to us about local government. 

For Phys Ed, Alien In-line skating. Students are welcome to bring their own helmet if it is CSA approved. Our first day is Thursday April 13th. 

Next Friday is our student teacher Ms. Brown's last day. We hope to walk to Edworthy Park for her final day on Friday weather permitting. 

Our final trip to Arts Commons is April 25th. Field trip forms will be coming home next week. We do require volunteers, if you are able to join us, please let me know.
