Even though a short week, it was busy as usual. Had a lovely walk to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon where we wrote 7 Directions poems and sketched.
MATH:
- in math grade 5's fnished up with probability and started Shape & Space
- Grade 6's are finishing up their surveys and had another practice computation PAT. Some students need work on lining their numbers up properly when adding & subtracting. They will be bringing these home if they need to work on things.
SCIENCE:
- we did an experiment analyzing fabric characteristics
SOCIAL:
- talked about the election results

- discussed how laws are passed in the Provincial Government
ELA:
- continued our work on figurative language and learned a new term (Oxymoron). Ask your child an example of it. In connection to this we wrote some Haiku's
- in preparation for the reading PAT we examined & analyzed comics and poems
- started our Multi Genre project. Ask your child which topic and genres they chose
HOMEWORK in Google Classroom under reading:

HEALTH:
- A health form was sent home about our upcoming unit on Human Sexuality. You only have to return the exemption sheet if you DO NOT want your child to participate. All students are opted in.
VOLUNTEERS:
- we are in need of parent volunteers for our grade 6 farewell on Wednesday June 28th to help decorate the Learning Commons, cut the cake, etc. If you are a grade 5 parent you can still volunteer to pay if forward for next year. Please contact Heather Conellean heconnellan@cbe.ab.ca if you are interested. There are various opportunities.
